Odyssey Charter is located in Altadena, CA and serves 490 students in grades Kindergarten to 8th grade; the OCS- South location is also in Altadena, CA and serves 400 students in TK-8th grade, with approximately 106 staff members organization wide.

Position Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator performs human resources work in several areas including staffing, employee relations, benefits, training, employment, and safety. This role maintains employee related records; develops and implements policies, programs, and procedures,. The HR Coordinator will develop and use a Human Resources Information System to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. The HR Coordinator serves as the main point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related matters. The primary functions and responsibilities of the Human Resources Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
Duties & Responsibilities
● Oversee employee outreach, recruitment, and retention processes
● Ensure compliance with local, federal, and state regulations concerning employment
● Maintain files for employees and their documents, benefits and attendance records
● Administer compensation and benefit plans
● Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
● Attend webinars, seminars and other trainings to stay-up-to-date on laws and best practices
● Participates in HR policy and program development with Executive Director, Legal Counsel, and HR Consultants as appropriate
● Conduct employee onboarding, training and development initiatives
● Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
● Ensure compliance and consistency on all pre-hire and on-boarding requirements
● Generates documents such as offer letters, employment agreements, handbooks, and performance notifications
● Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
● Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team on disciplinary actions, violation of rules/regulations, and employee grievances
● Any other duties as assigned

● Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information
● Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with the standards, practices, policies, procedures and local, federal and state regulations
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, changes, delays or unexpected events
● Ability to work independently and seek support and resources as needed
● Ability to work within time frame of standard policies and procedures
● Excellent ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve in a busy, fast paced environment
● Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with Executive Director
● Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
● Uses established procedures and works under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks
● Very strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential
● Working knowledge of background, reporting procedures , and recordkeeping requirements
Qualifications
● BS/BA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
● 1 to 3 years of experience in Human Resources in the State of California
● Thorough knowledge of HR principles; Federal, State, and Local regulations related to labor and employment
● Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a diverse environment
● Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite
● Understands fundamental HR concepts, practices, and procedures
