Hospitalist physician job in North Carolina : Immediate need for locum tenens Hospitalist in North Carolina. Must be Board Eligible or Bo! ard Certified in Internal Medicine Located just north of Durham our client is looking for both a Locum and Permanent Hospitalist to join an established group. This position does offer Medical Director responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity with a growing hospital system with top notch support and facilities. We are able to offer a very competitive compensation package.
General Position Duties:
Days & Hours, 10am 6pm, Mon Fri (overlaps staff hospitalist working 7am 3pm), some early am starts to attend required meetings, occasional weekend coverage for other hospitalists on vacation, maximum 8 weekends per year.
Call, Supplemental back-up for other hospitalists who are on vacation; otherwise NO CALL. Reason for calls when on call vitals sign changes, abnormal lab results, new admission orders.
Critical skills needed, ACLS, PALS. Must be able to perform the following: ICU management, Central Line placement, Paracentesis/thoracentesis, Ar! terial lines, Lumbar puncture, Endotracheal intubation, Vent m! anagement, EKG interpretation, Run Code, See 14 years and up.
Average patient encounters per day, Shares the following clinical duties with one other hospitalist: Admissions: 6-10/day (approx 3 after 7pm), Rounds: 18-20/day, Discharges: 3 5/day, In house Consults: 1-2/day, Nursing home consults: intermittent, Pre-op consults: intermittent Medical Director Administrative Duties, Attends Medical Staff Meetings / meets every other month, Attend/participate Primary Care Council meetings / meets monthly and assists with quality measures, Value Based Purchasing initiatives, Leadership role on Medical Core Team / meets monthly, Attend/participate EM Physician Committee Meetings / meets quarterly, Serves on or Leads other committees if needed, Leadership role with EMR / meaningful use, Help develop Policies and Procedures, Educational Leadership role for nursing and medical staff, Participate on Clinical Peer Review if needed, Manage GMC Hospitalist Program, Coordinate 24/7 hos! pitalist coverage, Problem solving, Help create / monitor INPATIENT DASHBOARD
