Maxim Government Services is searching for qualified CRNAs for our client, the Durham, NC VA Medical Center. Consistent flexible shift work is ! available for Monday through Friday, day shifts. CRNA’s must be NBCRNA certified.ROUTINE DUTIESThe CRNA is authorized to perform routine duties on a regular, repetitive basis. These duties may be performed after specific prior discussion with the supervising physician. The CRNA works with an anesthesiologist in the performance of duties. These duties include but are not restricted to: 1.Performing and documenting a preanesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies2.Performing a thorough check out of equipment.3.Selecting preanesthetic medications and fluids.4.Developing and implementing an anesthetic plan.5.Initiating the anesthetic technique, which may include general, regional, or local anesthesia, as well as monitored anesthesia care (MAC).6.Selecting, applying! and inserting appropriate non-invasive monitoring devices for! continuous evaluation of patient physical status in ASA 1,2,3,4,and 5 patients.7.Selecting, obtaining and administering anesthetics and adjuvant drugs and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic care of the patient.8.Managing a patient’s airway and ventilation using current practice modalities.9.Facilitating emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, administering, and ordering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support.10.Providing post-anesthetic follow-up evaluation and care.NON-ROUTINE DUTIES1.Monitoring pain management postoperatively using a numerical pain rating scale2.Responding to emergency situations by providing airway management for emergency life support techniques.EMERGENCY DUTIESThe CRNA is authorized to perform emergency duties for patients with life-threatening situations where a physician is not immediately available. The CRNA initiates these activities and makes every effort to summon a physician as soon as possible. Examples of emergency! duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following: 1.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)2.Tracheal intubation and management of airway emergencies3.Advanced cardiac life supportROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESRole responsibilities and accountabilities include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in the assigned area(s) of practice. This knowledge includes undertaking changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the Adult and Geriatric population.In addition, the CRNA is accountable and responsible for possessing knowledge and skills to: 1.Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers.2.Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written and/or verbal patient/employee information3.Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and op! eration of equipment and adherence to safety practices.4.Comply with al! l medical center and service/service line safety policies, procedures and protocols to avoid injury and/or illnesses to self and others. Identify and report all unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel to ensure a safe environment for all patients, medical center personnel and visitors. Practice safe working habits to avoid damage to equipment and building structures.TOURS OF DUTY1.0730-1600 is the most frequently used tour. However, occasionally 0930-1800 may be the required tour.2.Additional tours of duty may include 0730-1800, 0930-2000, 1130-2000, when the DVAMC expands operating room capability and as determined by departmental needs.3.If on call hours are required for Monday through Friday, call hours will be from 2000-0730.4.If on call hours are required for Weekends, call hours will be 0730-0730 for 24 hours Saturday or Sunday.5.Needs for CRNA contract coverage are usually 1-3 days and occasionally a full week. Needs are driven by the number of residents scheduled! and the number of staff CRNAs who are employed. There is the occasional need for multiple providers in the same week.
