Education: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and approved School of Nu! rse Anesthesia.
Licensure/ Certification:
Current RN license in North Carolina. Certification/Recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the council on Certification and Recertification every two (2) years with a minimum of forty (40) continuing education credits. Current ACLS certification.
Qualifications:
Experience: Graduation from approved School of Nurse Anesthesia.
Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE:
Administer anesthesia services to patients of all ages and physical conditions for a variety of surgical and medically related procedures.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Responsible for obtaining and interpreting information appropriate for the age of the patient in order to understand the treatment, growth, and development needs of all age groups served.
2. Performs a thorough and complete pre-anesthetic assessment of the patient.
3. With consult! ation and guidance from the Anesthesiologist, formulates a pat! ient-specific plan for anesthesia care.
4. Implements anesthesia plan and makes adjustments based upon patient response and surgical needs.
5. Evaluate the effect of anesthetic interventions ongoing and post-operatively.
6. Responsible for appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risk of fire, explosion, electrical shock and equipment malfunctions.
7. Responsible for appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risk of infection for the patient, CRNA and other staff.
8. Maintains anesthesia records of procedures, narcotics, supplies and materials used to assure complete and accurate case histories and cost-effective patient care.
9. Contributes to the team effort of department.
10. Assesses anesthesia care to assure its quality.
11. Demonstrates accountability for professional nurse anesthesia practice.
12. Demonstrates personal commitment to quality and personal accountability.
13.! Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
