Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

For detail informations about this career opportunity please read the description below. TOUR OF DUTY: 12 hour shifts (7:00 am to 7:30 pm) with rotating days off and on-call.
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is authorized to perform routine duties on a regular and repetitive basis. Major duties required in the position include the following:
Completes anesthesia pre-operative evaluation of patient which includes documenting pertinent physical examination and medical history, including auscultation of the heart and lung and thorough airway a! ssessment
Interviews the patient, explaining procedures, r! isks, benefits, and provides informed consent
Reviews the available medical, surgical and anesthetic records
Writes appropriate pre-operative orders
Discusses patient assessment and anesthetic plans including post-operative pain management with an Attending Anesthesiologist in the Anesthesia Care Team (ACT) model
Places necessary invasive monitoring or performs advanced procedures as qualified for adult and geriatric patients with supervision
Completes proper safety check of ALL equipment and medication for all cases
Performs tracheal intubations, extubation, and provides ventilation consistent with the needs of patients
Manages the anesthetic, promptly detects problems, and implements corrective action with timely follow up communication with the Attending Anesthesiologist
Adheres to infection control guidelines set forth by the Medical Center Infection Control Committee.
Specialty skills will include operating all point of care testing ! as qualified and operating blood gas analyzers
Participates in the education of student Registered Nurse Anesthetist, resident physicians, medical students and other allied health professionals
Participates in research activities or data collection and input as needed
Participates in Quality Management as needed
Assist and coordinates CRNA and Resident Anesthesiogist monthly schedules, maintaining staff levels for the Operating Room and other areas requiring anesthesia services
