Administer anesthesia services to patients of all ages and physical conditions for a variety of surgical and medically related procedures.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Responsible for obtaining and interpreting information appropriate for the age of the patient in order to understand the treatment, growth, and development needs of all age groups served.
2. Performs a thorough and complete pre-anesthetic assessment of the patient.
3. With consultation and guidance from the Anesthesiologist, formulates a patien! t-specific plan for anesthesia care.
4. Implements an! esthesia plan and makes adjustments based upon patient response and surgical needs.
5. Evaluate the effect of anesthetic interventions ongoing and post-operatively.
6. Responsible for appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risk of fire, explosion, electrical shock and equipment malfunctions.
7. Responsible for appropriate safety precautions to minimize the risk of infection for the patient, CRNA and other staff.
8. Maintains anesthesia records of procedures, narcotics, supplies and materials used to assure complete and accurate case histories and cost-effective patient care.
9. Contributes to the team effort of department.
10. Assesses anesthesia care to assure its quality.
11. Demonstrates accountability for professional nurse anesthesia practice.
12. Demonstrates personal commitment to quality and personal accountability.
13. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

2. Must establish and maintain quick lasting rapport with patients as well as with their families and guests. Must work closely with other CRNAs, anesthesiologists, surgeons and nursing staff. Must have knowledge of all machinery and equipment utilized in delivery of safe, quali! ty anesthesia. Must practice universal precautions.
3. Must ma! intain a constant state of mental alertness. Must have knowledge of sterile technique for insertion of invasive and intravenous lines.
4. Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from patients in diverse stages of development, i.e. neonates, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
