The College of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Hospital are excited to announce that we are updating our Veterinary MRI Imaging center. The updated Veterinary MRI Imaging Center will be equipped with a 3T MRI as well as up to date anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment which are MRI compatible. The MRI facility will serve primary inpatients, as well as outpatients referred from surrounding practices.
The Veterinary Hospital is comprised of the 110,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Randall B. Terry, Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center, the Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Center, the Veterinary Health and Wellness Center, a 100,000 square-foot CVM Research Building and Satellite and Field Veterinary Services.
Essential Job Duties
The North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, Veterinary Anesthesiologist. This individual will be responsible for providing anesthesia for and directing the Veterinary MRI Imaging Center at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Caseload will include dogs, cats, horses and exotic species.
The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care for all patients requiring MRI and supplementary/short procedures prior to or after imaging.
Responsibilities will include:
Supervision of day-to-day operations in the MRI unit.
Pre-anesthesia evaluation for MRI patients.
Performance of anesthesia, patient monitoring and recovery.
Maintenance of controlled drugs and maintenance of anesthesia records.
Communications with referring veterinarians and clients, including outpatient intake and discharge.
A registered veterinary technician, and a certified MRI technologist ( AART radiology/ MRI ), will support the anesthesiologist.

Minimum Education/Experience
Requirements for the position include a DVM / VMD or equivalent degree, successful completion of an anesthesiology residency, and completion of board certification in the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia ( ACVAA ) or in the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia ( ECVAA ).
