American Anesthesiology of North Carolina is seeking a full-time certified physician assistant to staff the Preanesthesia Testing Clinic at WakeMed Cary Hospital! in Raleigh. This individual will be responsible for working with a team of anesthesiologists to ensure that all patients seen in preoperative consultation are fully prepared for surgery. Responsibilities will include interviewing patients, ordering preoperative tests and consultations, reviewing data, communicating with consultants and surgeons, and providing preanesthesia education to patients. The physician assistant will work alongside hospital-employed RNs and be employed and supervised by anesthesiologists of American Anesthesiology of North Carolina. Two years of work experience as a physician assistant, preferably in the preoperative setting, is required. Experience in cardiology and/or adult medicine is also highly desirable. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of cardiac testing and be able to interpret ECGs and understand what stress test and cardiac catheterization results mean.
